But rest assured, fall gardens are not limited to having broccoli, cauliflower or cabbage. There are far more edible foods to grow in a fall garden. Ideal for fall gardens, Brussels sprouts taste best when they are given ample time to mature in a cool weather. These need to be planted in-mid summers and they take around 3 months for the sprouts to appear. It takes 90 days for these to reach maturity.
The seeds for radishes need to be sown around 4 weeks prior to the first frost. Make sure that you sow the seeds evenly or you would have to thin them out. The soil needs to be well-drained and your radishes would be mature within 50 days.
The moist and cool weather in the fall season is perfect to grow spinach in your fall garden. It needs to have very fertile soil so that its growth is enhanced and you get really tender leaves. Spinach takes around 45 days to reach maturity and you should sow its seeds around five weeks prior to the first frost.
